Cue Point FAQ
What are cue points in DJ software?
Cue points are time-stamped markers you set in your DJ software (Rekordbox, Serato, Traktor) to mark important moments in a track — like the intro end, drop, or chorus. Setting them at bar boundaries helps you jump to the right place instantly.
How do I calculate cue point milliseconds from BPM?
Divide 60,000 by the BPM to get one beat in milliseconds. Multiply by 4 for one bar, 16 for a 4-bar phrase, or 64 for a 16-bar (song section) cue. This calculator does all of that instantly.
What is a musical phrase in DJing?
A phrase is typically 16 bars (64 beats) of music. Most electronic and pop music is structured in 8 or 16-bar phrases, meaning a breakdown, build, or drop usually starts at a phrase boundary. Phrase-matching between tracks makes transitions sound natural.
Can I reverse-calculate BPM from a known time?
Yes — if you know how long one beat is in milliseconds, divide 60,000 by that value to get the BPM. Use the reverse calculator below the main table to check tempos.
