Club DJ Contract FAQ
What should a club DJ performance contract include?
A club DJ contract should state the performance date, set times, agreed fee and payment method, deposit terms, technical rider requirements (CDJs, mixer model), guest list allowance, sound engineer contact, and cancellation policy.
How do I handle payment for club bookings?
Most club promoters pay cash on the night or via bank transfer within 48 hours after the event. Specify your preferred payment method and deadline in the contract. For larger bookings, request a 25–50% deposit in advance.
What is a technical rider for club DJs?
A technical rider specifies the exact equipment you need — typically 2x Pioneer CDJ-3000 or CDJ-2000NXS2, a Pioneer DJM-900NXS2 or DJM-V10 mixer, two booth monitors, and sufficient power outlets. Including this in your contract prevents you arriving to a sub-standard setup.
How do I protect myself if a club cancels a booking?
Require a signed contract and deposit before confirming any date. Include a cancellation clause stating that if the venue cancels within 14 days of the event, they forfeit the deposit. If they cancel within 7 days, you are entitled to the full fee.
